"Rooted in Craft is about honouring the hands behind the work and the materials that make it possible." Victoria Coleman
This exhibition brings together an exceptional collection of handcrafted works that honour traditional goldsmithing techniques, while embracing modern design perspectives.

Rachel creates contemporary pieces that explore the relationship between colour, material and process. Working primarily with colourful gemstones and mixed metals, her practice combines traditional goldsmithing techniques with an experimental approach to materials. A defining aspect of her work is the development of her own metal alloys.

Partners in craft, Luke Shimell and Emma Madden meld their ideas and expertise to create their inimitable jewellery style. They fuse the worlds of contemporary design and traditional goldsmithing. Their designs and making methods are inspired by their mutual love of mathematics and science.

Rachel seeks to challenge the concepts of contemporary jewellery, producing a range of high end, mixed material pieces.
Carefully considering material combinations and placement, she finds different ways of constructing innovative pieces using traditional jewellery techniques.

Fascinated by the natural world, Fiona takes inspiration from trailing ivy, falling blossom and delicate garlands of jasmine.
Fiona initially trained at Manchester School of Art, experimenting with ceramics and glass before discovering her passion for metalwork. Specialised studies in silversmithing followed at Bishopsland.

Laura's jewellery is inspired by a fascination for miniature worlds found within the natural landscape. Her approach to making is experimental and often process led. She is interested in the ambiguity of form, each piece an abstract composition which quietly provokes the observer to look more closely.

Belle’s jewellery journey began at Central Saint Martins where she immersed herself in the craft of creating beautiful, meaningful pieces. Over the past 10 years she has refined her skills. Her designs balance traditional craftsmanship with contemporary artistry, featuring carefully selected gemstones and delicate details, her jewellery feels elegant, personal and like no other.
Judith has been working with wire for over twenty years. She began hand stitching with wire; a technique inspired by her degree in Embroidery at Manchester Metropolitan University.
She stitches, loops, twists and wraps to create intricate and delicate floral arrangements.
Her wireworks are a permanent reminder of sunny walks in lanes and gardens.
